I am writingfrom the pump area of the Nelson swimming pool. It seems my office changes weekly, if not daily. I tried to sit in the office and type, but between the guards coming in and out and my pool rats, I couldn’t keep a thought in my head. Thankfully it’s a slow day, and the two guards can run things without me for the most part. I’m here to deal with the pumps, and water testing, have a level head in an emergency, and occasionally grab a kid out of the five-foot area under the slide when a child overestimates their swimming ability. LOL!

I had such high hopes for this summer, and nothing has gone as planned. Currently, my mind is a dumpster fire. A friend recently told me to stop sweating the small stuff, but like horse apples, the small stuff piles up and dealing with all that can feel overwhelming.

I have been working a lot more than I had planned. My part-time gig at the pool has felt like a full-time job this past couple of weeks. I was hoping having more employees would equal fewer days for me to cover. Unfortunately, our schedule has more scribbles than my son’s preschool notebook. The sad part is I have nothing to show for all the hours I’ve put it. I guess it’s true what they say. The more you make, the more you spend, but on what exactly has me confused. Probably fuel.

Someone mentioned the price of fuel had gone down. Well, it did but not enough to brag about, that’s for sure. Tell me when it’s under three dollars! Until then, I’m just going to keep putting enough in the tank to get where I need to be and back home again. It has seriously put the kybosh on our summer plans, but we all do what we can with what we have.

My back and fanny are starting to hurt from sitting on the concrete against the cinder block wall, and I can’t see the kids in the pool, which makes me nervous, so I best close now before someone goes off the slide. Hopefully, this coming week goes smoothly, and I’m back to writing from my usual perch on the patio. George keeps the house at polar temps, and I can’t deal with that most days. X’s & O’s.
