Lovewell State Park bans open burning

Fire-Burn ban at Lovewell

September 8, 2022

Because of the drought and extreme fire hazard conditions, Lovewell State Park is now in a fire-burn ban. Wood campfires will not be allowed within the state park. Only covered gas-charcoal-pellet grills will be allowed. This ban will be in effect until sufficient percipitation is received in the park.

Lovewell State Park is sponsoring a 3D Archery Shoot event on Sunday, Sept. 11. Registration will be at the state park archery range located just north of Cottonwood Campground, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. A $10 donation is suggested to enter. A Steel Deer Competition will begin at 12 noon, with a $5 donation suggested to participate and cash payback to the winner.

Sunday is also a Free Park Entrance Day at Lovewell State Park. Vehicle permits are not required to enter the state park on that day, however, camping permits are still required if camping overnight.
