Red Cross Blood Drive is low on staff

November 10, 2022

The Red Cross Blood Mobile visited to Nelson Friday. The Red Cross Blood Drive is currently so understaffed that they were going to cancel the drive in Nelson. After reconsidering everything, they decided to come but could only take 30 donors instead of the usual 60. Then when they arrived, they were still short staffed so more cancellations were made.  After all was done with the cancelling and rescheduling, the drive did collect 27 units which is a lot less than normally collected, but every donation helps. Other drives in the county have been cancelled.

The donors who adjusted their schedules around all of the haves and have nots were appreciated.

There were four donors who reached their personal milestones.

Bruce Christensen is now a 3 gallon donor. Kathy Boyles a 4 gallon donor. Jim Larsen is now a 6 gallon donor and Lynn Culbertson has reached her 11th gallon.

Other donors were: Ken Rempe, Brian Van Steenberg, Dale Endorf, Carol Buschkoetter, Kara Kliewer, Marlin Meyer, Ivalee Jacobitz, Ramon Otero, William Daugherty, Jenell Wood, Deb Troudt, Cindy Hewitt, Chris Hansen, Brent Menke, Alfred Hanson, Jan Menke, Julie Worman, Trish Honeycutt, Brenda Schott, Terri Shipley, Sally Frahm-Drudik, Susan Rogers, Tammy Frahm, Jackie Siebecker and Lisa Butler.

The Salem Lutheran Church women, under the supervision of DeAnna Tuttle, served the lunch.

As of now, a drive is scheduled for Tuesday Jan. 24.
