L-N girls basketball team off to slow start

The first two games of the 2022-2023 Lawrence-Nelson High School girls basketball team were less than kind for the Raiders. The Raiders dropped their season opener, 45-33, Friday, to the Red Cloud Warriors, at Red Cloud. The Thayer Central Titans handed the Raiders a gut-wrenching 31-29 loss at Hebron Saturday.

Hanna Skinner led the Raiders point chart against Red Cloud with 12. Katelyn Mazour accounted for seven points. Sydney Biltoft was good for five points. Emily Troudt scored four points. Kara Menke dropped through three points. Josie Hajny had two points. Mazour grabbed seven rebounds for the Grizzlies. Menke nipped off with six rebounds. Biltoft, Skinner and Troudt produced two rebounds each. Hajny had a rebound. Jessica Sole led the Raiders scoring with nine points against Thayer Central. Menke contributed eight points. Mazour responded with seven points. Biltoft and Skinner landed two points each. Troudt sank a free throw for one point. Biltoft and Menke nabbed five rebounds apiece. Troudt snagged four rebounds. Mazour, Skinner and Sole accounted for three rebounds each.

The Raiders host the Franklin Flyers at Nelson Friday. The Bruning-Davenport-Shickley Eagles visit Nelson Saturday. The Friend Bulldogs provide the competition Tuesday.
