SHS wrestlers keeping busy

The Superior boys wrestling team competed in two invitational tournaments Friday and Saturday. The Superior girls had their first match at Crete Saturday.

The Wildcats finished in ninth place, with 71 points, in the 16 team field at the Wood River Invitational Friday.

Holden McDonald took third place honors and earned 16 team points in the 120 pound weight bracket.

Hayden Neeman took third place and 18 team points in the 132 pound weight bracket.

Colt Laaker and Cooper Sheely competed at the 138 pound weight level. They earned no team points.

Lincoln Sanders competed at 145 pounds.

Aaron Allgood earned seven team points in the 160 pound weight bracket.

Kyler Boyles picked up 15 team points and fourth place in the 170 pound weight bracket. David Hodges competed at 170 pounds.

Christian Osweiller competed at 220 pounds.

Henry Griljava earned 13 team points with his fourth place finish in the 285 pound weight bracket.

Superior traveled to Daykin, Saturday, to compete in the Bob Oliver Pin Invitational Tournament at Meridian High School.

Superior finished in second place, with 181 points, in the seven team field.

McDonald earned first place honors and 31 team points in the 120 pound weight bracket.

Neeman stood on the first place step of the podium at 132 pounds with his 30 team points, Laaker picked up fourth place at 132 pounds.

Sheely finished in fourth place at 138 pounds and earned six team points Sander took fifth place in the 145 pound weight bracket.

Allgood earned 32 team points with his second place finish in the 152 pound weight bracket..

Cooper Ehlers finished third at 160 pounds. He earned five team points. Boyles stood in first place with 30 team points in the 170 pound weight bracket. David Hodges finished in fifth place.

Osweiller held fourth place in the 220 pound weight bracket and earned 12 team points.

Griljava took home first place honors and 35 team points at the 285 pound mark.

The Crete High School Invitational for girls was held Saturday with 374 wrestlers from 22 schools competing at the tournament.+

Cheyenne Stacy was the lone Superior entrant. She recorded a third place finish in the 105 pound weight bracket.

The girls will be in action, Thursday, at the Fairbury Girls Invitational, and Friday at the Oakland-Craig Girls Invitational. The boys compete at the Oakland-Craig Invitational, Friday, at Oakland. They visit Hooper, Saturday, for the Logan View Invitational.
