Love my crazy life

February 9, 2023

This time of year, and since I no longer have children in school, I hear from my friends less than I would like to. I received a text yesterday, “Are you alive?” The text was followed by a call, “Hey lady, how have you been? Sorry, it’s been a minute since we have talked.” We had a nice long conversation. She is always busy this time of year with work, life and the different activities her children are involved in; the most prominent at the moment are basketball and wrestling.

She asked how I had been doing, and I’m not sure how I replied, but she later asked if I was depressed. I honestly couldn’t answer that question. Maybe? I’m still having a time adjusting to this whole empty nest thing. When Jacob was home, life was always go, go, go, and when he left for boot camp, it all just came to a screeching halt.

Don’t get me wrong. I am enjoying the groceries in the refrigerator lasting for more than a day and being able to stretch the budget a little further. Having fewer dishes and laundry to do is nice, but I think I’m bored more than anything. Thankfully we will be getting started on our other house soon, getting it ready to be sold. I am so weird. I’m looking forward to being covered in drywall mud and paint once again. I find a hard day’s work to be so fulfilling. I’m still going to complain about it, but deep down, I love it.

The winter blues won’t get me for long. I’m planning the garden. I have decided to make it my life’s mission to become an okay gardener before I become fertilizer! LOL! So to my neighbors to the south, I apologize in advance for the mess. Fingers crossed, we will have a privacy fence up before it becomes too much of an eyesore. Enjoy the warmer temperatures while they are here. X’s & O’s.
