RHHS girls advance in post-season play

 


The Rock Hills High School girls basketball team scored 76 points in their win over Lakeside, 76-57, at Downs, Friday. This was their highest scoring game of the season. It also marked the first time since 2010 that the team has won a post-season game. They advanced in sub-state 1A-D1 play to the semi-final round.

The Grizzlies spurted out to a 33-17 lead at the half and never looked back.

Danica Frost led the scoring barrage with a career high 36 points including four three point baskets. Lauren Whelchel produced 22 points. Bethany Simmelink dropped through 13 points for the Grizzlies. Halle Mizner accounted for five points.

Whelchel pulled down 10 rebounds. B, Simmelink landed five rebounds. Mizner finished with four rebounds. Grace Ayers and Selena Luong handled three rebounds each. Frost acquired two rebounds, Hannah Simmelink nailed one rebound.

Rock Hills travels to Washington County High School, Washington, Friday, to take on the Osborne Bulldogs. The Grizzles played Osborne twice this season, losing both games.
