Williams Funeral Home is Superior's Entrepreneur of the Year

Dave and Kim Williams of Williams Funeral Home are the recipients of its 2023 Entrepreneur of the Year Award sponsored by the Superior 3000 Foundation.

David and Kim are graduates of Superior High School (1978 and 1980, respectively).

The couple married in Superior in August 1981. They attended Hastings College; David earned bachelor of arts degrees in both business and economics before attending the University of Minnesota to complete his bachelor of science degree in mortuary science.

David and Kim are the parents of four children: Heather, Lauren, Amy and Rhys. They have seven grandchildren: Avaleigh, Sawyer, Mason, and Dean Isaacson; Jude and Silas Meyers; and Lennon Williams. They have one fluffy little dog named Chester.

David and Kim are the owners, along with David's brother, Dayre, of Williams Funeral Homes and Monuments located in Superior, Edgar and Red Cloud. The Williams family purchased the Superior funeral home in 1968; David took over from his father in 1984.

Both David and Kim have been active in our community.

David has served in positions for Red Caps, Kiwanis and Elks Lodge 2197. He is a past president of the Superior Airport Authority and the Superior Country Club board. Notably, he co-ran and bracketed the Superior Red Caps Basketball Tournament for nearly 20 years. He has coached baseball, softball and T-ball for the Superior Youth Athletic Association (SYAA), and junior high and high school girls basketball.

David has served in career-oriented positions as well. He has been active in the Nebraska Funeral Directors Associations as a member of the statutes and bylaws committee, scholarship committee and hero award board.

Kim has been active on a number of community boards over the years including Superior Public Library, Superior Public Schools, Christian Corner Preschool, Centennial Lutheran Church and the Southern Nebraska Arts Council (organizing volunteers for Crest Theatre).

At Centennial, Kim has served as secretary and as a member of the board of education. She's a teacher and organizer of the church's Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs. Kim is currently the bookkeeper at Superior Public Schools and previously worked at Mid-Nebraska.

Kim enjoys working with youth and for many years was a Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts troop leader, junior high girls basketball and volleyball coach and high school volleyball coach.

Congratulations, David and Kim!
