Lovewell State Park will host a 3D Archery Shoot Event

September 7, 2023

Labor Day is the last of the annual holidays which traditionally fills Lovewell Lake camping areas and brings an abundance of water loving young families to the lake to swim and enjoy the water sports. This year, locals report the attendance was good, especially considering the conditions. A blue-green algae alert was posted declaring humans should have no contact with the water. Temperatures soared around the 100 degree mark Saturday, Sunday and Monday and only the low water boat ramp was operational. However, the large expanses of grass is green indicating the area has been blessed with more rain than some of the nearby fields and the fireworks displays were deployed as scheduled Sunday evening. Pictured is the swimming beach Sunday afternoon.

Lovewell State Park is sponsoring a 3D Archery Shoot event on Sunday. Registration will be at the state park archery range located just north of Cottonwood Campground, 9 to 10 a.m. A $10 donation is suggested to enter. Donations are utilized for replacing targets when needed. A Steel Deer Competition will begin at 12 noon, with a $5 donation suggested to participate and cash payback to the winner. The 3D targets will be set up on the walk-thru course from Friday through Sunday for self-guided practices, bring your own equipment.

Sunday is also a Free Park Entrance Day at Lovewell State Park. Vehicle permits are not required to enter the state park on that day, however camping permits are still required if camping overnight.
