Janet Tuma

Janet Sue Tuma, 78, the daughter of Clem R. Bauer and Hertha L. (Hahnfeld) Bauer, was born on April 8, 1943, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City. She died Sunday, Dec. 5, at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler.

Sue attended Kansas City Public schools and called Kansas City her home until she moved to Belleville in 1961. On Sept. 8, 1963, she was united in marriage to Jimmie F. Tuma, and to this union two children, Melissa and Terry, were born.

After moving to Belleville, Sue first worked at the L&M Café, where she was working when she met Jim.

She was a nursing aide and worked many years in the healthcare industry at Republic County Hospital, Cook Chiropractic, Belleville Long Term Care, and as a home health aide. She also owned a travel business, Travel Time II. In recent years, Sue worked at the Golden Bell Haven.

In 1984, Jim and Sue purchased Belleville Bowl. For 25 years they owned and operated the bowling alley.

Sue was an active member of American Lutheran Church, Belleville.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents; sister, Kay F. Goodin; brothers, Darwin R. Bauer and Leonard Hahnfeld.

Sue is survived by her two children Mrs. Steve Windholz (Melissa K.) of

Salina, and Terry R. Tuma of rural Hebron; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Her funeral was held Friday at American Lutheran Church, Belleville.
