Country Roads

I’m working on something I promised myself I would never do again. My husband and I made the decision to try to sell many of our things that have been in storage and we just don’t have a need for anymore. We are having a yard sale, “By hook or by crook.” We try every day to go about rounding up these items but it all takes time. We get caught up in remembering why we bought it, where we got it, when we last used it and with some things we wonder why we never used it like we thought we would.

Sometimes, items get put back into its storage place. I think I can’t part with it or maybe it would be needed someday. Then I remember that old saying, “If you haven’t used it within the past year, you don’t need it,” so I take it back out.

There is the cleaning, the arranging, the inspecting, and then the hardest part, deciding the price to put on the items.

My husband looks at my stock pile of items, pulls something out and says, “We’re not selling this are we?” Then I remind him of how he has said many times how we need to eliminate things from our basement storage area. He eventually agrees to part with the item.

We think we have plenty of time to continue looking through our items but the date of the sale is quickly approaching. We want to be part of the Highway 36 Treasure Hunt.
