Clarence Elmer Dove Jr., the son of Clarence and Joy (Richards) Dove, was born Aug. 23, 1933, in Denver. He died Jan. 4, 2023, at the Brodstone Healthcare at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 4 months, 12 days.

Clarence attended West- minster school and Union High School in Colorado. He enlisted in the United States Navy on April 30, 1951, and was honorably discharged on July 7, 1953, serving during the Korean War. While in the service, he earned his GED degree and he served on the USS Hambleton DMS 20.

He was married to Marilyn J. Hansen on April 13, 1956, in Blair, Nebraska. They were blessed with three children. The couple lived in Omaha for three years before moving to Westminster, Colorado, in 1959, after Marilyn graduated nursing school. He worked for Public Service Company as a lineman and then an electrician for 19 years before moving to Webber, Kansas where he opened "The Sharp Shop." He sharpened blades of all kinds and did small engine repair. Marilyn died in 1984.

He married Shirley (Kalvoda) Schendt on Dec. 31, 1987, in Webber, where they resided until retiring in 2016 and moving to Superior.

He enjoyed many hobbies of which he was proud of, woodworking, jewelry making, hunting, camping, fishing, archery, remote control planes, raising rabbits and worms and golfing in his later years.

During his lifetime, Clarence lived in Omaha, Westminster and Lakewood in Colorado, Webber, Kansas and Superior. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks, VFW and Superior Country Club, the American Legion and the United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Joy; his first wife, Marilyn on Aug. 31, 1984; two sisters, Shirley Dolph and Beverly Marooney; and his brother, Galen Dove.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Superior; children, Kristy (Terry) Loghry of Cedaredge, Colo .; Kent (Candy) Dove of Sheridan, Calif .; and Cheryl Elledge of Superior; step-sons, Larry Schendt of New Providence, New Jersey and Dean (Pam) Schendt of Ashland, Neb .; sister, Delpha Race of Brighton, Colo .; six grandchildren: Janelle (Rocky) Privratsky of Grand Junction, Colo .; Dawn Scott of Eckert, Colo .; Rachael (Gavin) Ayers of Citrus Heights, Calif .; Heather (Tim) Woods of Las Vegas, Nev .; Brody Elledge and Jade Ahrens, both of Superior; 15 great-grandchildren: Liam, Nolan, Joshua, James, Alishiyah, Jacob, Josiah, Annalee, Alden, Genevieve, Nevaeh, Jeremiah, Charlie, Noah and Lincoln; and two step-grandchildren Rebecca and Brian Schendt; other relatives and a host of friends.

A memorial service will take place this spring.
