Shirley Hancock

 

Shirley Maxine Hancock, aka, Mom, Grammie Nannie, age 86, died Dec. 14, 2022, at Lutheran Collier Hospice located in Wheatridge, Colorado. She was born on Mach 29, 1936, in Kansas to Charles and Velma Garst. She married Dallas Merlin Hancock (Deceased 2011), who she deeply loved, then went on to have three children, Merlina Kay Hancock (McCready), Charles Edward Hancock (Deceased 2021), and Geri Sue Hancock. She had 11 siblings. She is survived by her little brother, Paul Garst, who resides in Mankato.

She worked as machine operator for Keebler Bakery for 30 plus years. She tookmuch pride in her job. Shirley enjoyed time with her family. She has many wonderful grandchildren, including: Traci Marie Adkins, Lucas Allen Adkins, Koby Styles Adkins, Taydon Blaine Adkins, Kayel Allen Adkins, Chayton Moore, Brett Morrer, Cole William Hinkson, Melanie Hinkson, Cole John Hinkson, Haley Star Hinkson, Morgan Marie Rickman, Meranda Paige Adkins, Nicholas Jame Adkins, Amelia Katheryn Adkisn, Alijah James Adkins, Arthur Dustin Adkins. There are too many grandchildren to all name. Even though she didn't see them much, she loved each and every one of them. She had six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren - a total of 28 grands.

She liked to crochet, listen to country music, fast cars, garden and drink ice cold Pepsi. She enjoyed sharing old stories, funny memories and jokes from time to time. She could be witty and rough, and also so soft, caring, selfless, sweet and loving. She would eagerly wait for her daily visitor who she loved with her whole heart, her sister-in-law Dianae Hancock. It made her days so much more special with her visits. Shirley was also a dog mom, she cared for, and lover her Shih-Tzu Sugar, they were best friends. They were insparable, he was her baby.

She was loved by many, and will be missed by us all, she was the matriarch of the family, and the Sweet Queen Bee.
