Donald Biltoft

Donald Dean Biltoft, the son of John and Greta, was born on June 8, 1929, in Welling- ton, Kansas. He died Sept. 14, 2023, at the Park- view Haven Nursing Home at Deshler, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 3 months, 6 days.

Don attend- ed country school in Nora, Nebraska, and graduated from Superior High School. He was baptized at Stephenville, New Foundland, by Father Greatnek. Don served in the United States Air Force from Dec. 7, 1950, until Dec. of 1954. He was married to Mary Ann Mazour and to this union six children were born. They were later divorced. He was married to Lola Hull in March of 1996 at Edgar, Nebraska.

He was a 50(plus) year member of the American Legion and member of the Elks Lodge, long time member of the Knights of Columbus, and Elk Creek Country Club, of which he was a charter member and was instrumental in its formation and development. 

After being discharged from the Air Force, Don began farming and working at other agriculture related jobs. Later, he moved his family to Nelson where he began his banking career with the Commercial Bank, Nelson. After several years in the bank, he established an independent insurance agency with others in the bank, as well.  

Don's hobbies included refinishing antique furniture and woodworking, attending local auctions, dirt track auto racing, going to sports events to watch his children and grandchildren, golf, and coffee with his buddies in Oak. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Donnie April 10, 2017; sister, Phyllis Ross; brother, Earl; and sister-in-law, Lois Biltoft.

Survivors include his wife, Lola of Edgar;  sister, Lora Novak of Oregon; brother-in-law, Arnold Ross of Superior; children: Pia (Kent) Meyer of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Roger (Cathy) Biltoft of Nelson; Nick (Cindy) Biltoft of Riverton, Wyoming, Crystal (Rick) Meyer of Cypress, Texas, and Tara (Greg) Daly of Bawley Point, New South Wales Australia, daughter- in-law, Lucy Biltoft of San Antonio, Texas, Toni (Jim) Hynes of Blaire, Nebraska, Greg Rothfuss of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Lesley (Rothfuss) Souicie of Lee's Summit, Missouri; 22 grandchildren: Nicole, Becky, Jordan, Corbin, Taylor, Gage, Kelsey, Calem, Trevor, Joe, John, Brigum, Torin and Seave, Alicia, Amber, Erin, Lance, Cole, Beau, Chase, Halle; 14 great-grandchildren,   nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Superior, Nebraska, with Father Steven Major officiating.

Music will be "Jerusalem, My Happy Home," "O Sacrament Most Holy" and "Holy, Holy, Holy"  with Stephanie Thayer as soloist.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, at the church.

Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. before the mass.

Interment with military honors will be in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to go to Cerebral Palsy Foundation in honor of his great-grandson, Ridge, Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's and Research or ECCC upkeep and maintenance.
